US intelligence outlined his vision of the conflict in the Donbas

US intelligence expects that the fighting in the Donbas will continue throughout 2015.

US intelligence agencies still find it difficult to name the period end the conflict in eastern Ukraine, but the voices of the possible reaction of Russia on the supply of arms by Washington to Kiev.

"Clashes in Ukraine and will continue during the current year," - said the director of National Intelligence James R. Clapper on Thursday during a hearing in Congress, adding that "negotiations on the status of the south-east of Ukraine will be a lengthy and complicated."

According to him, Russia may provide a more sophisticated weapons to the separatists in eastern Ukraine, in the case of direct supply of weapons by Washington to Kiev.

"According to representatives of the US intelligence community, supplies to Ukraine lethal weapons can cause a negative reaction from the Russian Federation and, presumably, lead to the (Russian - Ed.) More modern weapons in areas under the control of separatists", - said Klepper.

At the same time, the intelligence chief said that such a position of representatives of the US intelligence does not mean that they are against the supply of arms Kiev.

Recall Barack Obama has not yet made a final decision on the supply of arms Ukraine.
