US cyber threat from Russia worse than thought

US intelligence agencies otseniviyut threat of cyber attacks from Russia as a more serious than previously thought.

This was stated by Director of National Intelligence James Clapper.
According to Clapper, the Russian Defense Ministry forms a unit that can control propaganda and malware to infect computer systems opponents.

China also poses a significant threat. Countries such as Iran and North Korea, in turn, are "less technical capabilities, but probably more destructive intentions," said Clapper Senate Committee on Armed Services.

Clapper said that, although the US government for years warned of a possible "cyber Armageddon", which can disrupt the financial institutions and disconnect power, intelligence agencies are now focused primarily on the attacks of small and medium level.

Over time, the cumulative economic effect of many small attacks will be felt on the economy and national security, said Clapper.
